WMS Tome Book Club

The WMS Tome Book Club Celebrated Tome Literacy Week February 5th – 9th this school year. Students could win prizes by participating in the daily challenges to learn more about literacy. Monday, February 5th students participated in print literacy by sharing their favorite books. Tuesday, February 6th, students participated in visual literacy by creating meaningful images.  Wednesday, February 7th, students experienced Information literacy by doing research online.  Thursday, February 8th, students experienced creative literacy by making something new and unique out of random materials.  Friday, February 9th, literacy week was concluded by working on digital literacy by viewing Netiquette for Students on Youtube and sharing something they learned. It was a week for book club members to experience a wide variety of literacies and win rewards!
Our chapter isselling Poweraids in the media center. We have hung up signs around the school to advertise. All of the profits from sales go to sending more students in our chapter to TomeCon, and so far we have the funding to send around six students. Hopefully the Poweraid sales will be enough to send the full chapter!!

WMS Tome club members had a Christmas party on December 14, 2022. They enjoyed their lunch in the media center, and then had sweet treats for dessert. A good time was had by all!

Recently, the students of Wilbanks Middle School Tome Society had our first meeting of the school year. During this, many students began working on their fall projects. Eight students total attended, and we were able to discuss the It list books in addition to working on our projects.

Book Club helps with Can Recycling

Students will be helping collect empty cans to recycle in 2024. They will be working with the custodians to accomplish this and encouraging other students to join in on the efforts. If you have an empty can, make sure to drop it off at the end of lunch!

The WMS book club meets on Thursday afternoons to discuss the Jr. It List Books and work on club projects.
